Percent 40.9 of water used for water supply in Turkey came from dams, percent 29.3 from wells, percent 15.6 from springs, percent 10.1from rivers, and percent 4.0 from lakes/ponds/ponds in 2020.
The proportion of the municipal population served by water supply networks to the total municipal population was percent 98.7, and the proportion of the municipal population served by water treatment plants to the total municipal population was percent 61.3 in 2020.
While in 1994, 3.24 billion m3 of water was abstracted in 1994 to be distributed by municipalities through the water supply network, this number increased to 6.5 billion m3 in 2020.
Of the total 6.5 billion m3 of water abstracted for water supply networks, 3.9 billion m3 was treated in drinking and utility water treatment plants. Of this, percent 93.1 was treated by conventional methods, percent 6.7 by advanced methods, and percent 0.2 by physical methods[48].
